Artist Meghan O’Connor will display her work through Oct. 27 in the Eoff Hall Art Gallery on Motlow College’s Moore County campus.
The college hosted O’Connor for a reception on Thursday inside the gallery. Refreshments were served and the artist was available to speak with the public regarding her work.
Meghan holds a bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University and a master’s degree from Clemson University. She has lived and studied in Italy and spent a year working and teaching in California. She has been an instructor of foundations at Middle Tennessee State University since 2009.
“The act of making art is me processing my everyday experiences and looking at relationships, how we treat each other and ourselves,” said O’Connor. “When approaching daily choices, oftentimes we end up with short-lived fulfillment, rather than a long-term contribution to a positive well-being. My work is an awareness of these self-destructive tendencies and the inherent struggle that results upon this realization; a fight for self-control.”
The public can view Meghan’s work Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more information about Motlow’s art gallery and art exhibits, contact Brian Robinson, professor of art, at brobinson@mscc.edu or (931) 393-1674.
