Call for Entries: 4th STUDENT INTERNATIONAL SMALL PRINT SHOW – SIPS 15

 
Faculty of Fine Arts -El Minia University- Egypt, and Extra Art Gallery are proud to host the 4th STUDENT INTERNATIONAL SMALL PRINT SHOW – SIPS 15. 

SIPS is one of the most significant student printmaking art exhibitions in the world. SIPS represents an excellent opportunity for international artistic exposure and interaction among talented printmaking students from all over the world. The show will be opened at the gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts - El Minia University in late March 2014 and then it will be reopened at Extra Art Gallery in Cairo in December 2015.
 
Eligibility:
1-All currently enrolled art students including grad students (regardless of age) are welcome to apply.
2- Recent grads (within 3 years of graduation) may apply earlier works while they were students.
3-Students talking informal printmaking courses in Printshops or private Studios are also welcome to apply.

Print requirements:
1-The theme of the show is open , and all traditional and experimental printmaking techniques are acceptable . Print installation is NOT acceptable.
2-Each artist may apply with two prints.
3- The maximum size of the paper is 12x16in or 30x40cm, image size is open. Works exceeding the maximum size will not be accepted.
4-Year of production should not be older than 2012.

Submission Guidelines:
1-The Artist should fill out the application form and send it along with two JPG photos of the prints without paper margins (the white borders of the paper around the image).
2-Dimensions of the photos should be (4x6in - 10x15cm), Res. (120 dpi). The total size of the photo should be from Min (400 KB) to Max (700 KB). The photos should be accurate and of a high quality.

*Not sure how to prepare your photos! please ask for help from your teacher.
3- The photos should be labeled (right click and rename) with (artist name- work title- technique- image size -year of production – Country of nationality), in the following specific order .
Ex: (John Smith-Untitled-Etching- 8x11 in- 2011 - USA).

*Please use the same name in all the materials of the application to save us the confusion
(William – Bill , Liz – Elizabeth , …..).
5-Send to the application and the photos to: participation@studentsprintshow.com
6-Deadline for receiving the application form and the photos for initial screening is Nov.1st.
7- Notifications of the selection result and shipping information will be sent to the artist by Nov.15th.
 
Awards:
5 equal awards of $300 & SIPS Award Certificate will be awarded to selected artists , and 10 Certificates of merit will be awarded to selected artists.

1- Ahmed Sakr – Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts – El Minia University & Professor of Graphic Arts. (Egypt).
2-Beth Grabowski - Professor of Printmaking & Author - University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (USA).
3- Richard Noyce – Visual Artist & Writer. (England).

Online Promotion:
1-Accepted artworks will be exhibited online in a dedicated website for the show for 12 months. : www.studentsprintshow.com
2-Featured artworks of the show get promoted regularly on the interface of the website as well as on different social media websites (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn) and on SIPS FB group:

Catalogue:
1-A full color Catalogue of the show will be sent to accepted artists.
2-The Catalogue will be sent to the artists via register by late April.

Donations & Sales:
1-All The exhibited Prints will be considered as donations to the show. (Part will be selected for the student museum of the faculty of Fine Arts and part will be offered for sale to support the show).
2-The artist should clarify the number of the print edition available for sale and In case of multiple sales, the artist will be asked to send the number of the sold prints and will receive 50% of the sale price and Extra Art Gallery receives 50% commission.

Application Fee:
A $25(USD) or equivalent value of other currencies to be sent along with the application form via Paypal (www.paypal.com) to: participation@studentsprintshow.com, or via Western Union (payable to: Wael AbdElsabour - Egypt). Please provide your Name, country and confirmation No. as they show on the WU transaction. Group payment is more efficient (please provide a list of the names of the artists).
