Deighton Abrams, Clemson University MFA in Art Alum (ceramics), Begins Residency at STARworks Ceramics Studio in Star, NC!

STARworks is an arts-centered work community that promotes community and economic development by providing outstanding artistic educational programs and business ventures. They strive to engage the community with artwork and artists of the highest caliber.  Artist in Residents at The Clay Studio at STARworks are part of an educational component to the clay factory on site that processes locally mined NC clay bodies. The residencies span one to six months in duration, and the duration depends on the proposal submitted by the artist and the available studio space. Deighton Abrams will be an Artist in Residence from January to March 2017.

Deighton Abrams received the Master of Fine Arts in Art from Clemson University with a concentration in ceramics in December 2016. Deighton finished his undergraduate studies Magna Cum Laude at Armstrong University in Savannah, Georgia.  He originally hails from the far north of Anchorage, Alaska but he has spent an equal amount of time in the deep south of Georgia, Texas, and South Carolina. His work focuses mainly on the tenuous balance between human and landscape and utilizes both figurative forms and geologic formations to create complex narratives about human consciousness and its impact on the surrounding climate.
