Project description: Art on the Green 2012 is a juried outdoor sculpture competition that will include up to eight works to be placed in public green space in downtown Winter Park. A $1,000 stipend will be awarded to each accepted entrant.
Primary juror: Olga Viso is the Director of the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. Prior to that she was director of the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C. She also previously held curatorial positions at the Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach, Fla., and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Ms. Viso is a Florida native and a graduate of Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla., and Emory University, Atlanta.
Sites: The eight sites are located along Park Avenue in downtown Winter Park. Two sculptures will be located in front of City Hall (along Park Avenue between Comstock and Lyman Avenues) and six sculptures will be located throughout Central Park (along Park Avenue between New England and Garfield Avenues).
