SUBMISSIONS SOUGHT: ART & PHOTOGRAPHY (plus fiction, creative non-fiction & poetry) Juxtaprose Magazine

In addition to general submissions, they are now accepting submissions to our 2016 Short Story Contest.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
They accept fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, art and photography. They do not consider works which contain gratuitous levels of profanity, sexual content, or violence.
All submissions should be sent to the address listed at the top of this page. Use “Author’s name – Genre” as the subject line. In the case of poetry, also include the number of poems you are submitting. Attach your piece as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf file. PDFs and other file types will remain unread. Cover letters are encouraged but not required. If included, they should be used to highlight publishing credits, professional credentials, and other relevant experience, not to relate a synopsis of your story. They take a special interest in showcasing work by undergraduate/previously unpublished writers and artists, please let them know if you fall under this category.
They acquire first North American serial rights upon acceptance. This includes the right to publish your material on our website as well as a future print edition, to be released within one year of the date of your acceptance letter. The author retains all other rights. They do not accept reprints. Their editors make a sincere effort to respond to all submissions within eight to twelve weeks. Simultaneous submissions are accepted in all categories, but please be courteous enough to notify them immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. They ask that you wait until you have received a response before submitting additional material.
FICTION & CREATIVE NONFICTION
Submit one piece between 500 and 5,000 words. Their emphasis is literary fiction, however they will consider any work that is of sufficient quality, regardless of genre. They welcome flash fiction pieces, so long as strong characterization and a semblance of plot are still present. They are not interested in stories written from a second person point of view.  Manuscripts should be double spaced and include your contact information in the left hand corner of the first page. Include a header with your last name and the page number on each subsequent page. Do not include a title page. Manuscripts which are not professionally formatted will remain unread.
POETRY
Submit up to five poems, each as a separate attachment.  Individual poems should be no more than two pages. Include your name and contact information with each piece.
ART & PHOTOGRAPHY
Submit up to five pieces, as individual attachments, or provide a link to a portfolio. They prefer .tif files, although .gif and .jpg are acceptable. If submitting attachments, format file names as firstname_lastname_titleofpiece. They accept a wide array of styles, but are not interested in science fiction, fantasy, or anime themed art. They also do not accept photo essays. You may include a 50 word art statement with your submissions.
