Zane Logan, Clemson University MFA in Art, Curates Photographic Exhibition, "Depiction," at Riverworks Gallery

Show runs:  February 18-March 15, 2015
Reception:   Friday, March 6, 2015, 6-9 pm

Depiction is an exploration into the complexities that shape and form identity. Curator, Greenville Technical College's photography instructor, Zane Logan [MFA-Art, photography emphasis, 2011, Clemson University], designed the exhibition to encompass wide-ranging approaches to portraiture. The exhibition is a study in current photographic processes including wet plate, large format film, Polaroid, expired film, and digital capture.

Logan comments, "Artists were chosen for their unique approach to photographic portraiture and sensitivity to subject. This collection of imagery includes formally considered environmental portraiture, intimate studies of friends and family, typographic studies, informal snapshots, self-portraiture, and an exploration of a diverse range of media as evidence of the individual motivations of each photographer."

Current students made their photographs under the mentorship of Zane Logan extending the long-standing photography fellowship tradition originally established by Blake Praytor at Greenville Technical College. The selected photographers include Logan, his current students Kristen Bryant, Joy Hart, Elizabeth Kabakjian, Amanda Long, Heather Rhodes, Cody Satterfield, and Ginia Worrell, colleague Patrick Owens [BFA candidate, Art, Clemson University], and mentor Blake Praytor.
