SECAC 2014 Juried Exhibition

Submission deadline is April 1, 2014. Late entries will not be reviewed.
Notification date is May 15, 2014.
Delivery of accepted works to the Art Center Sarasota by Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 5pm. The Art Center can begin receiving works as early as Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
Installation (handled by Art Center staff): Sunday, October 5, 2014 through Tuesday, October 7, 2014
Juror

Jurying: Tuesday October 7, 2014 and/or Wednesday October 8, 2014
Dates of the exhibition available for public viewing: Wednesday, October 8 – Saturday, October 10, 2014. Gallery’s open hours: 10am-4pm
Artwork pick-up: October 11, 2014; 9am-5pm. For security purposes, Emma Thurgood (contact info below) will need the name, phone number and email in advance of the person who is responsible for picking the work up.
Sales: the Art Center takes a 35% commission of work sold at the Exhibition.
Required items for installation:
  • Title information about the piece for object labels- Artist name, Title, Medium, Price/Loan statement (“From the Collection of…” or “Courtesy of…”) No NFS or POR, please. 
  • Insurance value if not for sale
  • Size of piece with an image for installation planning
  • Any special requirements for hanging/display. Cleats, pins, clips, etc. must be included with the artwork when shipped. Art Center uses standard nails and wire hooks for installation. The walls of the gallery are carpeted. The Art Center has 30 pedestals of varying heights and dimensions.
Eligibility
SECAC membership must be established or current at the time of acceptance, and be current during the conference. For membership information, visit the Membership page on the SECAC website: www.secollegeart.org.
Limitations
All media are eligible. The hosting venue (Art Center Sarasota) reserves the right to refuse any work considered too fragile or heavy to exhibit or that has extraordinary installation requirements. No work composed of decaying organic material will be accepted. The Artists are responsible for providing any installation instructions and special equipment, including any electronic equipment the work might require. Work must be exhibition ready.
Entry Fees
A nonrefundable fee of $35 for up to three entries must be paid to SECAC by credit or debit card (see Submission of Payment and Entry).
Best in Show Award
The juror will select one artist to receive a “Best-in-Show” award and may, at his discretion, bestow additional honorable mention awards.
Liability Agreement
SECAC and the hosting exhibition venue (Art Center Sarasota) assume no responsibility for loss, theft or damage while the artwork is in transit. Questions regarding insurance, etc. should be directed to Emma Thurgood (below) at Art Center Sarasota. The submission of the signed entry form with documentation and entry fee will constitute an agreement to all conditions of the prospectus, including permission to use a reproduction of the works for publicity or catalog production. No entry materials will be returned. All accepted work must remain in the custody of the exhibition venue for the duration of the exhibition.
Shipping
Work may be hand delivered to the Art Center Sarasota or shipped by UPS or common carrier to the shipping address listed below. All work accepted for exhibition must arrive ready to install no earlier than October 1 and no later than October 4, 2014. Work may be picked up on October 11 at the conclusion of the conference, or works may be shipped back to the artist if they arrive in a reusable container with a prepaid return-shipping label. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, including insurance.
